Spay & Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP)

S.N.I.P (Spay/Neuter Initiative Program) assists eligible low-income pet owners with the cost of spay/neuter, routine vaccines, deworming and microchipping. The goal of the program is to decrease unwanted litters, increase pet health and improve access to veterinary care for low-income families within a 50km radius of Red Deer, AB.

Please note: 

  • this program only applies to cats and dogs

  • owners are responsible for transporting their animals to Taylor Vet Clinic in Red Deer (6315 Horn Street) for 8-8:30 am on the day of your appointment. If you are late for drop off, you will be turned away and not rebooked. 

  • rescheduling requires 72 hours notice. Failure to do so will result in not being rebooked. 

  • vaccinations and microchipping are mandatory 

  • eligible animals must be a minimum of 8 weeks old and 2 lbs

  • each household is eligible to spay/neuter one animal per year, unless there is no other pending applications waiting.

  • all approved applicants will be contacted by email.

Program costs: 

  • Cats/Kittens MALE - $100

  • Cats/Kittens FEMALE - $150

  • Dogs/Puppies MALE - $200

  • Dogs/Puppies FEMALE $250

All costs include spay/neuter, vaccine (DAPP), deworming and microchipping.
